Government Contract Manager/Negotiator

Job Summary:

Nuance is  seeking an compliance contracts manager/negotiator to join our team who can serve as a partner to business leadership in shaping and executing our market-facing strategies. This role will advise business partners with legal strategies, manage complex issues and provide innovative and effective legal solutions for mission-sensitive projects. You will negotiate complex transactions with U.S. Government agencies, contractors, cloud and technology providers.

Key Responsibilities

Draft, negotiate and review direct government and third-party transactions

Proactively identify and communicate risk to business teams and provide recommendations on how to mitigate that risk

Advise senior business clients on financially significant and complex matters related to government contracts

Establish and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams and leadership

Educate and provide guidance on government contracts to commercial legal attorneys, negotiators, and contract managers

Establish internal processes and best practices for Nuance ‘s  federal contracting activities

Basic Qualifications

5 years of experience at a law firm, U.S. government, IT Company, or in-house legal department

4 years of solid experience in federal procurement applying the FAR/DFARS in the context of complex IT or integration

Juris Doctorate degree (preferred but not required)

US Citizenship

Professional Skill Qualifications

Fluency with key laws and regulations pertaining to federal procurement and federal contractors

Ability to translate complex legal/regulatory concepts to business partners

Ability to effectively partner with business clients to jointly solve issues throughout contract life cycle

Excellent written and oral communications skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative business environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with:

  • GSA procurement
  • certs and reps
  • Government VAR/VAD Reseller Agreements
  • complex IT contracting
  • contract dispute resolution and bid protests
  • full scope of a federal procurement cycle, including market research, RFP review, Q&A, proposal development, post-award analysis, and contract negotiations
  • non-FAR government procurement and commercial contracting

An active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required for this role.
